WEST PATH DELIVERY 2022 PROJECTS
OIL & GAS

Along the southern British Columbia-Alberta border, two pipeline expansions deliver natural gas to domestic and export markets.

The West Path Delivery 2022 projects included the Foothills British Columbia Mainline Loop 2 Yahk Section and the NGTL Western Alberta System Mainline Loop 2 (WASML) Alberta British Columbia (ABC) Section to supply growing demand in southwest Alberta, southern B.C. and downstream North American markets with natural gas produced in Western Canada. These projects consisted of approximately 18 km of 48-inch diameter (NPS 48) pipeline expansions

The projects were located 215 km apart, deep in the Rocky Mountains. The Yahk section, located near Creston, British Columbia, consisted of approximately 12.5 km of new 48-in.pipeline with in-line inspection launching and receiving facilities. The ABC section, located near Coleman, Alberta, consisted of 5.2 km of 48-in. pipeline and associated facilities. Crews worked simultaneously on both fronts to complete the projects, which both involved blasting in steep, mountainous terrain.
