Pat has been representing contractors and subcontractors in the construction industry since 1988. In 2004, he joined Barnard as General Counsel and provides legal counsel to support the company in making sound business decisions. This counsel ranges from contract review to contract negotiations and claims resolution. His work on insurance claims has included commercial general liability claims, builders risk claims, professional liability claims, and directors and officers claims. In addition to managing internal matters of a legal or contractual nature, he coordinates with and manages outside counsel to accomplish Barnard’s goals in balancing budgetary issues. His department is involved in the acquisition and sale of businesses and property, safety, human resource issues, risk management, accounting, marketing, and providing guidance to Barnard employees. Additionally, Pat was heavily involved in the creation of Barnard’s Ethics and Compliance program.
