Dan has built his career in the heavy civil construction industry specializing in tunnels, shafts, concrete, hydropower, earthwork, water and wastewater treatment plants, marine work, and turbine/generator equipment installation. As Vice President & Operations Manager, Dan oversees Barnard’s tunnel division, providing executive oversight on all of Barnard’s tunneling projects, a number of which have encompassed alternative contracting methods. His projects include the Silicon Valley Clean Water Gravity Pipeline Tunnel, which was the first tunnel project in the U.S. to use the progressive design-build model, the Kemano T2 Upstream Works Tunnel, Lake Mead Intake No. 3 Low Lake Level Pumping Station, and Central Subway Tunnel. Many of Dan’s projects have earned major national and regional awards. Currently, Dan is overseeing the Green Line LRT Project in Calgary, Canada. Barnard has partnered with Flatiron as part of a joint venture to deliver Phase 1 of the project that will construct 18 km of LRT track, including 2 km of tunnel under the Beltline and downtown Calgary.
