Vice President & Operations Manager
“I enjoy the complicated, messy, problematic nature of our industry and working as a part of a team to devise solutions, whether a day’s challenge is geotechnical, weather, materials, or stakeholder related. Each day presents a new puzzle to solve with people I enjoy and respect.”
Mike Jenkins is overseeing Barnard’s expansion of work in the power transmission industry. He is involved in projects from estimating through design and construction, also working with owners, engineers and stakeholders in a Partnering atmosphere.
Mike's 25-year career in construction has covered a broad range of projects, large and small, many of them complex. He managed a Design-Assist contract that involved attaching a 280-foot-tall, 300-ton selective water withdrawal structure to an existing intake 270 feet below the water’s surface in a central Oregon reservoir as part of a hydroelectric relicensing effort. The innovative project won national awards and attracted international attention. More recently, the Transmission team he heads up completed an EPC project constructing 62 miles of new double-circuit 230kV transmission line through mountains and across the desert for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
