Del Shannon utilizes his 28 years of experience in civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering fields to pursue new dam design, construction, and rehabilitation projects through RFQ and RFP responses, value engineering, industry organization participation, design/build, and other early contractor involvement opportunities.
Del joined Barnard in 2017 after having worked for both consulting engineering and construction firms where he designed and built dams throughout the U.S. and overseas. He has been involved in significant roles on a wide variety of embankment and concrete dam projects, such as Project Manager and Lead Engineer on the development of a preconstruction test quarry for the Gross Dam Enlargement, Engineer of Record on the Pine Brook Dam design, and Engineer of Record for the Thayer Creek Hydropower Dam design. He has received national awards for his work from the U.S. Society on Dams and the Association of State Dam Safety Officials. Del earned his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, New Mexico, Alabama, and Alaska. Del can be reached at
