Kevin Schneider joined the Barnard Companies shortly after earning a Construction Engineering Technology degree from Montana State University 19 years ago. In his career at Barnard, Mr. Schneider has proven his talents in the field as well as in estimating, scheduling, and management, working on pipeline, dam construction and rehabilitation, and hydroelectric facility re-licensing projects, as well as in new business development and employee training.
Recently Mr. Schneider’s focus was on project management in the reconstruction of a hydroelectric facility where he contributed to design development and value engineering in updating two 100-year-old power plants in a scenic and environmentally sensitive area. Today, he works in new business development via client relations, RFP and SOQ responses, value engineering, project value assessments, marketing, and bid team management.

Kevin Ellerton
Dams and Hydroelectric Business Development
Kevin Ellerton has spent his 17-year career focused on heavy civil construction. He joined the Barnard Companies as an intern in 1995 and joined the company full-time after completing his B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology from Montana State University the following year.
Mr. Ellerton began his career working on high-pressure gas transmission lines and an urban water delivery project. He has experience in tunnels and sewer rehabilitation as well, but the bulk of his career has focused on dam and reservoir construction. Most recently, Mr. Ellerton managed the estimating and physical construction aspects of a $400 million reservoir project in South Florida. In Business Development, Kevin is focused on dam, reservoir, and hydroelectric projects.

Lyle McClellan
Underground Construction Business Development
Lyle McClellan’s 24-year career with the Barnard Companies began shortly after he earned a B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology from Montana State University. During his first 10 years with Barnard, Mr. McClellan worked as a Project Engineer and then Project Manager on a variety of projects primarily focused on water pipelines, dam rehabilitation and underground utilities.
In 1998 he became a Lead Estimator, focusing on pricing Barnard’s bids on tunnels, marine work, wind energy, and oil and gas pipelines. More recently he has begun pursuing new work for Barnard’s underground construction group. Lyle’s in-depth knowledge of Barnard’s resources and capabilities coupled with his experience in the field make him a valuable contact for Owners and Engineers interested in learning more about Barnard’s availability and potential.

Jerry Askin
Wind, Renewables, and Electric Transmission Business Development
Jerry Askin has gained a broad range of experience during his 40+ years in the construction industry. He brings to Barnard’s Business Development more than 20 years with the Barnard Companies; 16 of them as a Senior Estimator. Mr. Askin joined Barnard Construction in 1990 as a Project Manager, running pipeline projects throughout the Northwest. Since focusing on estimating, he has coordinated the pricing efforts of a team of estimators on a variety of heavy civil projects ranging from wind farms to pumped storage to large-diameter steel pipelines, dams, pipelines, and other areas of heavy civil construction.
Mr. Askin became interested in construction while attending Montana State University. In Business Development, he seeks out and prices new work in the wind, renewables, and electric transmission markets.
