Almost every job in construction today includes an environmental aspect, whether that means tapping into renewable energy, protecting the environment or species that reside there, restoring a damaged environment, or enhancing the current environment. Our future also lies in pursuing development of different forms of energy. Barnard has experience on staff in all of these facets of construction.
Our new business efforts now include renewables and efficient energy transmission. Take a look at our Renewables and Transmission Group.
Or, look below at what we’re doing to protect and restore the environment.
Protecting the Environment
Barnard has a 30-year history of working well with environmental agencies and groups, ensuring that the projects we construct also protect the environment in which they’re located. From wetlands matting to protection of the endangered snowy plover, we’ve worked closely with owners, agencies, and the public to meet everyone’s needs.
Restoring/Enhancing the Environment
One example of our efforts in this area has been our development of the 190,000-acre-foot Everglades Agricultural Area A-1 site, the first in a series of projects designed to restore the health of the greater Everglades ecosystem. Another would be our construction of seven complex projects (totaling more than $400 million) in the Owens Lake region in south central California designed to mitigate dust pollution arising from the dry lakebed.
