Project Details

Casitas Dam was originally completed in the early 1950s to serve as a municipal water source. Barnard was selected to complete a seismic upgrade and bring the dam up to current construction standards. Work was limited to the downstream face and toe of the dam, allowing the community use of the lake to continue throughout the project. The job's two major areas of construction included the strengthening of the earthen embankment and the reinforcement of the intake/outlet works. In addition to completing the project ahead of schedule, Barnard received a safety award from the Bureau of Reclamation in recognition of the safe completion of the Casitas Dam Modification Project.
