The Bisbee Wastewater Improvements Project involved rehabilitating the wastewater collection system and building treatment facilities for the City of Bisbee, Arizona. Located on the Mexican border, the former mining town recently transformed into a tourist and artistic community of approximately 6,000 residents. Narrow streets originally designed for horse and buggy traffic presented a challenge. The project called for the installation of more than 19 miles of pipe as well as street connections for about 2,400 residences and businesses. Wastewater is now piped to a new 1.2-MGD treatment facility located south of the City. The contract allowed two years for the completion of the project. The pipe work was completed in August 2005 and the Wastewater Treatment Plant was completed in January 2006.
