Barnard of Nevada recently completed reconstruction of the 1930s-era Weber Dam in western Nevada, which had been determined to be seismically inadequate by today’s standards. The project involved realigning the 1,950-foot-long embankment, repairing and extending the outlet works, and structurally changing the foundation. This required extensive dewatering, rebuilding the embankment, and creating a wetland mitigation area, among other challenges. The project was accomplished on time and on budget through the cooperative efforts of the Walker River Paiute Tribe, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, Harris & Associates, and Barnard of Nevada.
